About region

Today St. Petersburg may be seen as a Travel Hub, a point of entry into the Russian Federation, one of the most tourist cities in the country open to guests with different interests. It is the centre of cultural, business, event and other types of tourism. This is the city where stunningly beautiful nature is combined with architecturally important monuments, delivering the unique charm of hospitality and giving tourists an unforgettable experience.

The city has significant experience in organizing and holding large-scale events: the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum, the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, the 23rd session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the Global Space Exploration Conference, football World Cup and Euro and many others.

One of the most popular types of event tourism in the city on the Neva is gastronomic tourism. In St. Petersburg, it is developing rapidly. This is evidenced by highly popular gastronomic festivals that have been held on the banks of the Neva since 2016. Also two St. Petersburg restaurants are included in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants.

The Northern capital is the perfect city for a cruise vacation. It is also the largest sanatorium and resort complex of the Baltic Sea on the picturesque coast of the Gulf of Finland, a resort city where one can combine recreational and cultural holidays, eco-routes and outdoor activities, cruises on the Onega and Ladoga lakes and the opportunity to see both a European city and an ancient Russian Northern town. St. Petersburg is different for everyone.
